AskBoard Overview
The AskBoard in DonorDock is a tool designed to help manage your database's "Ask" activities. Organizing and tracking these fundraising efforts as part of a cohesive plan is often called Moves Management.
Moves Management is a nonprofit fundraising strategy that guides potential major donors through purposeful steps, or "moves," from initial contact to eventual donation. The goal is to foster strong relationships by customizing communication and outreach according to each donor's interests and level of engagement.
The AskBoard is a visual Kanban board that can help you easily view, organize, and track your Asks, either those you individually own or all Asks on your organization's Database. Access to the AskBoard is limited to team members with either the Administrator or User role.
To access your AskBoard, click on Boards in the Navigation Bar in DonorDock and select AskBoard.
The AskBoard will show lanes for each Ask Stage in your organization. By default, these stages are:
Identify (20%)
Qualify (30%)
Cultivate (50%)
Solicit (70%)
Close (100%)
Each percentage reflects the progression of your relationship with the contact and indicates the likelihood of a successful ask. This helps your team understand where each contact stands and how close they are to securing a donation or commitment.
Three Filter options are available at the top of the board to refine the Asks displayed on the Board at any time.
Board View | This filter lets you choose whether to view only your own AskBoard (asks where you are the listed owner) or all asks within your organization. |
---|---|
Status View | This filter lets you choose whether to view all asks or only those with a Completed or Incomplete status. |
Date Range View | This filter allows you to view the date range of the Ask activities on the board. This date filter pulls from due date of an Ask. |
Once you’ve set the filters for your AskBoard to display the information you want, you’ll see four key metrics at the top:
Total Ask Amount
The total Planned Ask amount from all cards currently visible on the AskBoard
Weighted Ask Amount
The total Weighted Ask Amount from all visible cards, where "weighted" refers to the probability percentage of each Ask being successfully made.
Open Ask Amount
The total sum of Ask activities that are not yet at 100% completion on the board.
New Ask Amount
The total sum of Ask activities visible on the board that were created within the last 30 days.
You can create new Asks directly on the ActionBoard by clicking the blue "Add Ask" button in the top-right corner. Additionally, new asks can be added through any "Add Activity" option in DonorDock, including the ActionBoard, Quick Add menu, Contact records, Reports, etc.
Changing the Stage of an Ask
When you're ready to advance an Ask activity to the next stage, you can either click and drag the card to the new stage lane or click to edit the Ask. Then, select the new stage from the "Ask Stage" dropdown and click Save.
