Configuring Dividers in Templates
The Divider Content element adds a horizontal line that visually separates sections of a template. Dividers can help organize longer communications and make transitions between different types of information easier to recognize.
Dividers may be useful for separating:
Newsletter articles
Event information
Calls to action
Different topics within a longer message
Header, body, and footer areas
Dividers work best when they create meaningful structure. Avoid placing one between every small piece of Content, as too many lines can make the template feel visually crowded. When you only need additional space between elements, adjusting Container Padding or Block spacing may provide a cleaner result.
Add a Divider to a Template
Open the Content tab in the Template Editor.
Click and drag the Divider element onto the desired location on your template.
Select the Divider on the template canvas.
Use the settings on the right to adjust its width, line appearance, color, alignment, and spacing.
Divider Width
The Width setting controls how much horizontal space the Divider occupies within the available Content area.
To adjust the width:
Select the Divider.
Locate the Width setting in the panel on the right.
Use the slider to make the Divider wider or narrower.
Review the placement on the template canvas as you adjust it.
A full-width Divider can create a strong separation between major sections, while a shorter Divider can provide a more subtle visual break.
Line Settings
The Line settings control the appearance of the Divider itself.
Line Style | Determines whether the Divider appears as a Solid, Dashed, or Dotted line. |
Thickness | Sets the line thickness in pixels. Higher values create a heavier, more prominent Divider. |
Color | Sets the color of the Divider using the same color controls available elsewhere in the Template Editor. |
The color selector allows you to choose a color visually or enter a specific HEX or RGB value. You can also select from available standard and Template Colors.
A thin, subtle Divider can help organize sections without drawing too much attention, while a thicker or more contrasting line can create a stronger transition between major areas of the template.
Alignment
The Alignment setting determines where the Divider is positioned within the available Content area.
Left | Positions the Divider along the left side of the available area. |
Center | Centers the Divider within the available area. |
Right | Positions the Divider along the right side of the available area. |
Justify | Positions the Divider according to the editor's justified layout behavior. |
Alignment is most noticeable when the Divider width is set to less than the full available width.
General Settings
General settings control the Divider's spacing, internal navigation, and responsive behavior.
Container Padding
Container Padding controls the amount of space surrounding the Divider.
Setting | What It Does |
|---|---|
Container Padding | Adds space between the Divider and nearby Content elements. |
More Options | Allows the Top, Right, Bottom, and Left padding values to be adjusted independently. |
Container Padding can be used to create more breathing room above or below the Divider without changing the appearance of the line itself.
Section Name
The Section Name field allows the Divider element to serve as a destination for internal navigation within a longer email.
Enter a short, recognizable Section Name if a Menu item, Button, linked Heading, or another supported element should direct recipients to this location using Go to Page Section.
Responsive Design
Responsive Design controls whether the Divider appears based on how the recipient is viewing the email. When editing in Desktop view, enable Hide on Desktop if the Divider should not appear in the desktop version.
When editing in Mobile view, enable Hide on Mobile if the Divider should not appear on mobile devices. Hiding the Divider in one view does not remove it from the template.
Divider Tips
Use Dividers to reinforce meaningful changes in content rather than simply filling empty space. A consistent Divider style can help create a more organized visual rhythm throughout newsletters and other longer communications.
For spacing alone, consider adjusting Container Padding or Block spacing instead of adding another Divider. Before using the template, review the Divider in both Desktop and Mobile views to make sure its width, alignment, and spacing still work well at different screen sizes.
