Split an existing Individual record with Spouse Information into a Household
  1. Click on Contacts in the menu

  2. From the contact list, search for the contact you wish to view or edit

  3. Click on the contact's name to navigate to the contact's detail page

  4. On the left, locate the Spouse box with the current spouse's information

  5. Click Create a Household

    • This will split the contact record into two individual contact records and create and connect them to a Household

Create Households during an import

You may import individuals into DonorDock and connect them to a Household at the same time by listing a household name in the Household column of your import file. During import, the system will check for existing Households with the name entered in the Household field. A new household record will be created and linked to the individual's record if no match is found.

🙋🏻‍♀️ What if I have two families with the same last name? For example, can I create two records named Johnson Household?

When matching to contacts through imports, the name will match by existing naming convention, so it is recommended that if you have two families with the same name, make each household name unique to the family, such as the Al and Betty Johnson Household and Steve and Suzi Johnson Household.
