DAFpay with DonorDock
DAFpay will launch and be available on October 3rd, 2025.
DonorDock giving pages include DAFpay powered by Chariot, the leading payments platform for charitable giving. DAFpay enables donors to make gifts directly from their Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs), providing your organization with access to funds that are already set aside for philanthropy.
What is a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)?
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a type of charitable investment account designed for giving. Donors contribute to their DAF, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund to nonprofit organizations over time. Because the money is already earmarked for charity, DAFs represent a committed source of generosity. Donors are not deciding whether to give; they are deciding where to give.
How a Donor uses DAFpay
The donor enters a one-time donation amount on your giving page.
The donor selects the DAFpay button at the bottom of the page
A pop-up window opens with a brief overview of DAFpay terms and conditions. The donor clicks Continue to agree
The donor searches for and selects their DAF provider (for example, Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable)
The donor logs in to their DAF provider and submits the donation.
Tracking DAFpay Gifts in DonorDock
When a donation is made through DAFpay on your DonorDock giving page, the gift is automatically recorded in DonorDock as two donations. The received donation will track to the Donor Advised Fund organization record that is paying the funds and a second, linked soft credit gift will be created on the donor record who directed the gift.
No receipt will be sent to the Donor from DonorDock as they should receive acknowledgement from their Donor Advised Funds.
Each DAFpay gift is assigned a 10-digit alphanumeric identifier, which is stored as the Tracking Code in DonorDock while the Grant ID from Chariot will be entered in the Payment ID Field. If any issues arise, you can use this number when following up with Chariot support.
The Payment Type will be set to DAFpay, and the gift will be automatically tagged with DAFpay Gift to make reporting easy
The status of the gift will be in processing status and will update to received status when Chariot sends an update of a successful donation.
