DonorDock and Online Giving Fees

DonorDock Giving Pages are funded by Donor Funded Platform Fees.

Online donations are essential for nonprofits in today’s world, and DonorDock’s Giving Pages provide a streamlined way to collect those gifts. When a donor donates through a DonorDock Giving Page, standard credit card processing fees apply, along with the option for the donor to help cover platform costs.

Credit Card Processing Fees occur when the payment processor (such as Stripe) deducts a fee from the donation and credits your account with the net amount for the transaction. Processing fees are not related to DonorDock and are an unavoidable part of processing any online transactions.

With Online Giving Pages in DonorDock, Donors will have the option to check if they would like to cover the processing fee for their donation or not.

Donor-funded platform Fees give donors the option to cover fees on their donations. The amount the donor elects to pay will be a flat 5% and $.30 to cover the processing fees and to support DonorDock. If the donor does not cover the fees on the transaction, your organization will only be charged the regular processing fees from Stripe, and no platform fee from DonorDock will be charged.

Donor-Fee Coverage

• By default, donors are shown the option to cover the transaction fees.

• This optional fee is added on top of the donation amount, not taken out of the gift.

• Stripe deducts its processing fees

• DonorDock receives the remaining portion of the 5% + $0.30.

• Your organization receives the full amount of the original intended donation.

❌ If the Donor Does Not Cover the Fees ❌

• Stripe still deducts its processing fee.

• DonorDock waives any platform fee.

• Your organization receives the donation amount minus only Stripe’s fees.

As a comparison, here are just a few of our competitors and the transaction fees they charge the charity, on top of the Stripe processing fees, for each donation. Unlike other online giving providers, we do not charge mandatory platform fees for online donations. Instead donors may easily select not to cover fees, and only regular processing charges will apply.
