Email Attachments in DonorDock
Attachments cannot be included with emails sent through DonorDock.
Attachments can significantly increase an email's size and may increase the likelihood that an email provider or spam filter flags the message as suspicious.
Instead of attaching a file, we recommend hosting the document online and linking to it from your email.
Link to a File with a Button
If your document is available online:
Add a Button element to your email.
Select the button.
Locate the button's link or action settings.
Enter the URL for the document.
Update the button text, such as View Annual Report or Download Event Details.
Save and test the email.
Link to a File from Text
You can also link words or phrases within a text element.
Add or select a Text element.
Highlight the text you want to make clickable.
Click the Link icon.
Enter the URL for the document.
Save your changes.
For example:
View our 2026 Annual Report can link directly to the hosted document.
Link to a File from an Image
An image can also direct recipients to a document or webpage.
Add an Image element.
Select the image.
Locate the image's Action or link setting.
Enter the URL.
Save your changes.
When possible, also provide a text link or button so recipients can still access the content if images are blocked.
Where Can I Host the File?
The document must be available at a URL recipients can access.
You may host the file on:
Your organization's website
A public document or file-hosting service
Another online location your organization manages
Make sure the link does not require an internal staff login unless the intended recipients also have access.
Tracking Attachments from Emails Sent Outside DonorDock
If an email with an attachment is sent through your regular email provider, you can still record that communication in DonorDock.
Create a Log Email activity or use DonorDock's external email tracking functionality.
Once the activity exists, you can upload supporting documents to the activity in DonorDock.
Uploading the document to the activity stores it as supporting documentation on the contact's record. It does not send the file to the contact
