Households: When to Use Them in DonorDock
Households are one way to manage relationships in DonorDock. If you have multiple contacts related to each other and interact with your organization independently, we recommend utilizing the household record.
ππΏββοΈ Does Creating a Household Create Another Record?
Yes, a Household is a unique contact record with multiple individual records connected. You may choose whether to track gifts and activities to the household record or use the household as a connecting record for the individuals to understand how your contacts are connected.
ππΌββοΈ Should Married Couples be Entered Using a Household Record?
If the couple interacts with your organization together (i.e: donations and event attendance), you do not need to create a Household record. Instead, you may use an Individual contact and include the spouse information in the available fields on the record.
If the couple does interact with your organization independently, we recommend creating individual records for each contact and then connecting them through a household record. Examples of independent interactions would be the couple giving separately or volunteers individually.Β
