Otto's Logbook: Release Notes 3.25.2026

This release brings major improvements to Custom Fields and Signup Forms, giving organizations more flexibility when collecting and organizing the information that matters most to them. These updates make it easier to capture the right data in the right place, improve reporting accuracy, and create more powerful signup forms.

Expanded Custom Fields🎊

DonorDock now supports four types of custom fields, making it easier to store different kinds of information in the right place.

Custom fields allow your organization to track information that goes beyond the standard DonorDock fields. With this update, you can now choose the type of custom field that best fits the data you are collecting.

Contact Custom Fields
Best used for long-term information about a contact or donor.

Examples include:

  • Volunteer interests

  • Communication preferences

  • Program participation

  • Internal segmentation or notes

Data from contact custom fields is stored directly on the Contact Record.

Gift Custom Fields
Designed for additional details about a specific donation or transaction.

Examples include:

  • Event table assignment

  • Auction item information

  • Sponsorship benefits

  • Internal payment references

Gift custom field responses are stored directly on the Gift Record.

Activity Custom Fields

Activity custom fields allow you to capture additional information related to interactions and actions with your contacts. These fields are useful when you want to track consistent details across activities that are not included in the standard activity fields.

Examples of activity custom fields include:

  • Follow-up category or outcome

  • Volunteer shift type

  • Internal tracking information for outreach efforts

Form Response Custom Fields
Designed specifically for Signup Forms, allowing organizations to collect one-time information without storing it permanently on the contact record.

Examples include:

  • Event meal selections

  • Volunteer availability

  • Shirt sizes

  • One-time survey responses

Responses appear on the Signup Form Response card and can also be viewed in Signup Form Response reports.

  • If the detail is about the person, use a Contact Custom Field

  • If it is about a donation, use a Gift Custom Field

  • If it only matters for a form submission, use a Form Response Custom Field

Signup Form Improvements🎊

Several enhancements have been made to Signup Forms to make them more flexible and easier to manage.

Additional Contact Fields on Forms

Signup forms can now include the option to add any editable contact field to the form options. This allows more information to be requested on a form.

Option to Reorder Marketing Lists

Marketing lists added to a signup form can now be rearranged, giving you more control over how list options appear to users.

Improved Form Response Tracking

Form submissions now create a Signup Form Response card on the contact record timeline. Selecting the card will display the full response submitted through the form.

Smarter Response Reports

Signup form response reports now automatically align report columns with the fields included on the form, making responses easier to review and export. If a signup form response is submitted using an email address that appears on multiple contact records, the response report now lets you choose which contact record to associate with the submission.

SMS Consent Added Automatically

If a signup form includes a mobile phone number field, a text-message opt-in checkbox will automatically appear at the bottom of the form, allowing contacts to consent to receiving SMS messages from your organization.

🚢 Hull Repairs and Bug Fixes

We also shipped a wide range of fixes and behind-the-scenes improvements

  • Fixed an issue where creating bulk activities through reports could generate activities that were not linked correctly to contacts.

  • Updated the Fundraise Up integration so gift matching no longer requires case-sensitive values.

  • Fixed an issue where recurring payments were not syncing correctly through the GoFundMe Pro integration.

  • Updated Zapier to allow automations to trigger when an existing gift is updated.

  • Fixed an issue where printing contribution statements did not create the expected letter activity.

  • Pushed out an update to GoFundMePro Integration to sync updates to a contact's Opt In status in GFM Pro to DonorDock

We hope these updates help you collect better information and keep your records organized as your organization grows. Thanks for sailing with us.💜
